How it works

Scoop about a cup of water from your pool or hot tub, bring it into the showroom, and we'll test it on the spot. No appointment, no purchase required, no membership card. You walk out with a printed report and a clear answer on what to add and how much.

Most tests take about 2 minutes.

What we test for

We use the same Taylor commercial water testing system that professional pool service companies use. One sample gives us readings on:

Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine. pH. Total Alkalinity. Calcium Hardness. Cyanuric Acid (stabilizer). Total Dissolved Solids. Phosphates. Copper and Iron when we suspect a metal issue.

For hot tubs we also check bromine levels and adjust the recommendations for your specific spa size and sanitizer type.

Why we do this

Pool and hot tub problems are almost always chemistry problems. Green water, cloudy water, eye irritation, scaling, corrosion, short equipment life. The root cause is usually a number that's off by a little, not a product you're missing.

Most people don't get clear guidance anywhere else. The big-box stores hand you a dip strip and a guess. We give you actual numbers, a written plan, and someone who'll take the time to explain it.

We've been doing this for 42 years. It costs us almost nothing and it's the single best thing we offer for keeping our customers' pools and hot tubs running well.

How often to test

During swim season, every 1 to 2 weeks. After heavy rain, a pool party, or a hot stretch, sooner. After draining and refilling, always.

For hot tubs that get regular use, weekly is ideal.

What to bring it in

Any clean container works. A water bottle, a Tupperware, a sample jar from us. Fill it from elbow-deep, not the surface, and bring it in within a few hours for the most accurate read.
